Katie and I woke up to -49.   So the only thing to is through a little water party!

This was a fun outing. Katie and I had been looking for birds the past few days and when we saw them  we had a little fun and dinner. These ptarmigan from what it seems like tend to hang around the willows by the river and around small ponds.

      Notice all the snow....or the lack of it. This machine has a 600 Etec, 154 inch, 2.5 inch paddle track and is made for woods riding in 20 feet of snow!(ok not really that much but a lot HAHA) Although thought right now I am grounded hahaha! O well....I see snow for the next few days is in the forecast so ....I will keep my fingers crossed. I put a new seat, pull starter, hitch, and wind shelled on it. On cool thing about this sled is the articulating track. It basically has 3 options,to shorten up the re-end. It can free float at 154" or be locked at 154" or be locked in the up position shorting the actual length of track touching the the around at 130" or so. Amazing the difference when it comes to turning, when it is in the up position. I will keep you up dated on this machine and give you a review on the manly things I care about. Such as, how does it pull wood/ logs, handle in  deep snow, woods, hunting (caribou, wolf, trapping)and hill climbing.

.....I think these are birds.....white birds...and not white girls.  Funny story the other day I was taking my  fisheries class outside fishing, go figure, anyway I saw a fox along the river and it was chasing ptarmigan, very cool. But at first I didn't know what those birds were so I asked one of the girls in my class if those white birds were ptarmigan.  She started laughing at me and then started telling her friends what I had said and they couldn't stop laughing. I'm like come on...I know I am not that funny. She thought I had asked.... do you call white girls [in the village] ptarmigan? Wow funny moment!

The Cold Is On

So as of late its been cold.....and the beard.....well its still keeping its cool. You know like it cool cause its cold and like......its also cool....like cool weather, double meaning. Does...that work...I don' t know....  Never mind.......

This is a really cool Blog created by Branden a real nice guy I just meet at a 4-H fisheries conference.   It is out of Russian Mission Alaska. This is probably 400 miles away from where I am at. That just a nice guess.  I love the trapping aspect of this blog. It also has some really nice shots of moose and ducks.

The other day I came into Fairbanks for a few days of meetings and shopping. I always hate coming into Fairbanks because we don't live that life style anymore. What I mean is no car or phone and that makes things hard. We also generally have to buy our supplies and food for the next few months and that means spending money. A lot of it unfortunately! But this time in Fairbanks I really had a good time. My buddy Tommy has a plane and he asked me if I wanted to take a ride one afternoon. I had know idea what I was in for!
